The Tempest is great, but its random patch generator gives you noise. Patchworks asks what you want first (kick, snare, bass, pad) and rolls inside the parameter space that actually produces that kind of sound. Each category is hand-tuned against real patches from the corpus, so the dice are loaded toward "usable."
Each category ships with 3-4 hand-designed sub-flavors. Kicks roll across analog, layered, pure-sample, and self-oscillating filter. Bass rolls across sub, classic, acid, and funk. Built from real corpus mining, not guesses.
Three settings: predictable, typical, surprise. Predictable stays close to the canonical recipe. Surprise opens up the modulation matrix and lets things get strange while keeping the core sound intact.
Roll a patch, send it to the Tempest over MIDI, tweak it on the hardware. Auto-send option, plus a keyboard shortcut for the workflow people who want to dice-roll fast.
